About Us
The first service of FBC Macon was held on January 15, 1961, when 22 people gathered in a large house along Illinois Route 51, on the property where our Church stands today. On April 11, 1965, the mission was formally organized as the First Baptist Church of Macon, with 54 in attendance.
We are an independent, Bible-believing church committed to serving God, leading others to Him, and sharing the hope of salvation through Jesus Christ. Our foundation is the Great Commission given by Jesus in Matthew 28:19–20 “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.”
We believe this commission remains just as important today as it was when Jesus first gave it. Throughout our history, God has blessed Our Church with opportunities to share the Gospel, help people come to know Jesus Christ as their Savior, and encourage believers to grow in their relationship with Him.
Of the 54 charter members who helped establish the Church, three remain in attendance today. Their continued faithfulness is a treasured reminder of the dedication and commitment upon which this church was founded.
We understand that life can be difficult, that people make mistakes, and that past regrets can weigh heavily on our hearts. We are not here to judge you for your past, but to point you toward the One who offers forgiveness, peace, and lasting hope. Through Jesus Christ, we can find salvation and a new beginning.
As we look toward the future, our prayer is that, should the Lord tarry His return, First Baptist Church will remain steadfast in the faith, grow in its dedication to Christ, and continue to see great things accomplished for His glory. We are grateful for God's faithfulness throughout our history and look forward to continuing to serve Him and the people of Macon for the years to come.

Our Pastor
Pastor Ed Cain and his wife, Gail, started with us on October 6, 2019. He previously pastored New Life Baptist Church in Clinton, IL for 14 years.
The Cains have 3 adult children and several grandchildren.
